| Katherine J. Michon was named by Boston magazine as one of Boston’s Best Employment Lawyers, which described her as “one of the best negotiators in the business.” She holds an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell and has been selected to be named by Thomson Reuters/Boston magazine in Super Lawyers for eight consecutive years as well as being selected for the Top 50 Female Super Lawyers in Massachusetts and for the Top 50 Female Super Lawyers in New England. Ms. Michon is well known for her work on senior executive transition matters, including change-in-control agreements, severance and compensation arrangements, and covenants not to compete. In addition, she advises small companies in sophisticated employment matters. As an established leader in the field, Ms. Michon is a frequent author and speaker on employment law matters, including managing the complexities of executive transition.
Ms. Michon spends much of her time advising individuals who have been wrongfully terminated and counseling executives and professionals on their rights in the workplace. Her clients appreciate her attention to detail, her advocacy and negotiation skills, as well as her extensive knowledge and experience in the field. She has successfully negotiated numerous employment contracts and transition agreements, and has navigated thousands of clients through a variety of difficult employment situations.
Ms. Michon is Chair of the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education Employment Law Advisory Committee and the Co-Chair of the Sexual Harassment Regulations Committee. She co-authors the Commentary for the Massachusetts Discrimination Law Reporter, and is the Co-Chair of the Boston Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Law Steering Committee. Ms. Michon also co-chaired the committee that drafted sexual harassment guidelines for the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination.
For a number of years Ms. Michon has co-chaired the annual Employment Law Conference for MCLE. She has authored a number of articles in publications such as Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly and has contributed to a leading employment law text, Drafting Employment Documents in Massachusetts, a publication of Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, Inc. She is a frequent panelist on a number of employment law seminars, including “ What Every Lawyer Needs to Know About Employment Law.”
Prior to co-founding Shilepsky Hartley Robb, Ms. Michon was a partner at Kimball, Brousseau & Michon. Previously in her career, she practiced employment law at Dwyer & Collora and at Shilepsky, Messing & Rudavsky. Ms. Michon received her B.A. from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and her J.D. from the New England School of Law.
